What is an online business manager?
A virtually based support professional who manages online based businesses, including the day-to-day management of projects, operations, metrics and team.
Think: Operations manager (but for online businesses).
What does an OBM do?
An Online Business Manager is responsible for (but not limited to):
+ Project Management – laying out plans and managing projects through to completion, including launches, managing programs, creation of new revenue streams, updating websites, etc.
+ Operations Management – automating systems and creating processes for all day-to-day activities in the business to streamline and simplify how things are run
+ Metrics Management – tracking stats for key business activities to see what is working and what is not working so that decisions can be made for ongoing growth
+ People Management – outsourcing, managing, and leading the efforts of the team to meet business goals
How is this different from a VA role?
Doing vs. Managing
The role of a virtual assistant is to be a DOER in the business. What they do will vary from person to person depending on their area of expertise - admin, customer service, tech, marketing, etc.
The role of an online business manager is to be a MANAGER in the business - to make sure the right things get done, in the right way, in the right time, and by the right person.
The title doesn’t make an OBM. Structure does.

Hey! I'm Qwantel
I’ve spent the last seven years running the backend of six- and seven-figure businesses and being the secret weapon of successful online business.
Now I teach OBMs how to do the same: structure operations, lead teams, and report on what matters.
I have a corporate background in Sales and Marketing Operations, working with CRM systems like HubSpot and Salesforce, and High Level and implementing marketing automation tools in corporate settings such as Marketo (now Adobe Marketo Engage) and Pardot (now Marketing Cloud Account Engagement. So the world of marketing automations, systems, and teams is nothing new to me.
I’ve worked with 30+ professionals on projects big and small, serving multiple industries — from law to coaching, finance, real estate, beauty, and more. While working with these businesses, I’ve helped streamline multi–six-figure launches, implemented and managed robust systems, led remote teams, and created scalable business infrastructure that allowed CEOs to focus on what they do best, knowing their backend was completely covered.
This has been the most rewarding role of my life. And now, I’m excited to help you do the same.
